"I had a vision of building a unique, end-to-end, vertically integrated approach to gene therapy."
About
MeiraGTx is a vertically integrated, clinical-stage gene therapy company with core capabilities in viral vector design and optimization and gene therapy manufacturing, as well as a potentially transformative gene regulation technology. Forbes founded MeiraGTx in 2015 with a vision of building a unique, end-to-end, vertically integrated approach to gene therapy, with clinical programs in diseases of the eye, salivary gland, and central nervous system. In a landmark result, MeiraGTx's gene therapy restored visual function in all 11 children born blind who received it in a clinical trial, prompting the company to pursue expedited regulatory approval.
Background
Before founding MeiraGTx, Forbes spent ten years as a healthcare investor at Sivik Global Healthcare and Meadowvale Asset Management, two healthcare hedge funds, where she developed deep expertise in biotechnology, specialty pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics.
